Nature – Towards a Green School
At R.K. Public School and Junior College, Georai, we have pledged to celebrate Eco-Friendly or Green Diwali with the spirit of sustainability and love for nature. The bursting of firecrackers releases harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, which severely pollute the air and damage the delicate balance of our environment. These toxic gases affect not only human health but also harm the respiratory and auditory organs of birds and animals, leading to distress and, in some cases, fatal consequences. The loud explosions of crackers cause panic among birds, often leading them to lose direction, injure themselves, or even die from shock. Plants too suffer, as pollutants settle on their leaves, blocking sunlight and hindering photosynthesis. Real celebration lies not in noise or smoke but in spreading light, love, and peace. Let us all come together to celebrate a Green Diwali, protecting every life that shares this planet with us. 🌿✨
In alignment with the NCERT Green School framework,
we actively protect biodiversity while engaging students in practical, meaningful initiatives:
Planting and nurturing native tree species across the campus.
Providing water bowls, bird feeders, and safe nesting areas.
Documenting visiting species during migration periods.
Reducing single-use plastic and promoting reusable materials.
Implementing rainwater harvesting and water reuse systems.
Creating natural manure from campus organic waste.
Bird-watching and biodiversity recording sessions.
Using telescopes to observe the moon and planets.
– Students maintain records of plants, insects, and birds on campus.
Â
We are committed to building a green, vibrant, and sustainable campus that inspires every student to become a lifelong steward of the planet. Through nature-based experiential learning, we ensure that our students’ personalities develop holistically — fostering empathy, responsibility, and a deep respect for all forms of life.
